By radically deviating from the existing design on the site, and opting for unconventional materials for the exterior, we produced a design for a thoroughly independent building. It is the outer skin, as well as the shape of the building, that offers an integral solution for the construction, the internal organisation of the auditorium’s seating and stage, the acoustics and the illumination of the room via natural light. The geometry of the shape was the driving force behind all aspects of the project.

The existing buildings form a sort of cradle in which to nestle the auditorium. Through a wide access bridge, it is connected to a spacious foyer with offices for the academic staff. This foyer makes as much use as possible of the space that is available within the volume, and connects seamlessly to the main circulation route.
