In May 2013, META architectuurbureau submitted its competition design with the City of Antwerp for the building of a new administrative centre for Borgerhout. The project is situated south of the Turnhoutsebaan and is bordered by the Bakkerstraat, Langstraat, Maréestraat, Mellaertstraat and is marked out by the district house on the Moorkens Square.

The building of the new centre closes the cell wall of the building bloc and stones the core. This way the compact tissue of terraced houses and back buildings get back their private and protected character. The Moorkens square will be experienced together with the new neighbourhood park/square as breathing room for the whole district.

Where on the side of the square enough height is generated to have sufficient mass, a minimal building height is used on the inner area. Besides that, the connection between the Moorkens square and the new square deserves special attention in the development of the volume.
