This is a project that came about through the initiative of Mensen in Nood and Bond Zonder Naam. The edifice is situated in the popular neighbourhood “de Seefhoek” in Antwerp and offers housing, in the form of accompanied living, to disabled people and ex-convicts: the socially underprivileged.
Het Damiaanhuis is an extension of a sheltered workshop. It comprises 12 studios, shared conveniences, and an apartment for the supervisor. It can be a stepping-stone to social reintegration that encourages independence. The architecture of the Damiaanhuis is in a contemporary manner dignified and classic at the same time.
