The project site is located in a wide outer bend of the river Lys in the centre of Ghent. A marginalised site with garage boxes is making way for a contemporary residential project, thus contributing to city centre densification. The unique position will be valorised in a residential project in the upper market segment.
The neighbouring properties have a large difference in cornice height. The apartment building offers an elegant transition through an internal trampling of the volume.
In terms of appearance, the building mediates between heavy mass and transparent lightness. Indeed, large window surfaces offer unparalleled wide views, highlighted by its position in the outer bend. The windows are executed in metal joinery in bronze colour. At the same time, the mass of the project is emphasised by the use of mineral materials (sand-coloured, brown-grey glazed brick) in, among others, the round columns with a diameter of 120cm.
Not only the large glazed areas, but also the terraces maximise the unique aspects of the project site. Not only the Leie outer curve, but also the location along the green Leie banks overlooking the green sports site of HoGent is thus valorised. The terraces have an angled shape that follows the curvature of the road.
On the ground floor there is a car garage for three cars, as well as the communal areas (entrance hall, bike storage, waste storage, technical rooms...). In this way, there is no need for an underground basement volume.
Furthermore, the programme consists of five residential units, including one duplex flat on the top two floors with a roof terrace on the lower volume.
