Verlatstraat is one of the side streets of the GedempteZuiderdokken in Antwerp. The recently landscaped Zuidpark adds great value to the neighbourhood.
At the beginning of the street, META renovates a commercial building according to the historical model. The adjacent commercial building will be demolished to make way for a new construction volume.
This creates a double project, each with its own access, but a shared, spacious passenger lift, which can also be used as a bicycle lift.

The commercial ground floor follows the original percel layout and consists of two separate commercial areas. On the upper levels too, the existing and new-build parts will be strictly separated. In the part to be renovated, a one-bedroom flat will be provided on level +1, as well as a duplex two-bedroom flat on levels +2 and +3. The new-build section has 4 flats of the two-bedroom type.
Under the new-build volume, the storage rooms of the flats as well as a spacious storage room for the commercial rooms are provided.

Each flat enjoys a unique outdoor space, either by using the historical balcony or by constructing a new roof terrace.
In the new building, a winter garden is opted for on the street side.

The historicity of the existing building is respected by a facade restoration based on the historic model. A new roof with new dormers in zinc will be added above the cornice.
The new volume is built in red brick and, with its curved window openings, refers to the brick architecture of the warehouses that are numerous in the neighbourhood.
