Competition Kaai 37 submitted
In commission of Project2, META architectuurbureau, architecten de vylder vinck taillieu, noAarchitecten, OFFICE Kersten Geers David Van Severen and West8 entered a joint competition design for the housing bloc Cadix D2.
The building bloc D2 consists of eight entities that form an ensemble, together scaled to the harbour, separate scaled to the neighbourhood.
In the design special attention was paid to the detailing and elaboration of the facades and the integration of terraces and balconies. The buildings are distinguished and static on the outside.
The inside of the building bloc aims for a liveable inner area with plots of green and a careful division of private and collective outdoor spaces. From the centre of the building bloc the facades run up in stages, each step making it possible to plant in full ground.
The context, position and visibility of the ensemble demand a specific approach of the materials of the façade. By choosing the same material with subtle colour nuances for the different buildings, strengthens the idea of the ensemble.
